Policy
on Parent Teacher Meetings when dealing with families who are separated.
November 14th
2018
Unfortunately we have a
significant and ever increasing number of families separating and therefore
this poses problems in communicating with parents, both at P/T meetings and
with reports.
The policy of conducting Parent Teacher meetings with families
who are separated is as follows.......
1. Both parents
are to receive notification of the meeting, time etc. in writing.
2. Both parents
are given the same time / date to attend together and this is to be adhered to
as much as possible for all obvious reasons.
3. If an
official request is made by either parent (phone, letter or email), to meet
individually, then this wish must be adhered to. (Some court rulings, depending
on individual circumstances, allow no contact).
4. If they do not
wish to attend together, a written report may be requested by one or the
other.......... and if so that same report should be very brief and concise.
5. Alternatively a
phone call may suffice......
HOWEVER, FOR LEGAL
PURPOSES, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BOTH PARENTS ARE MADE AWARE THAT THE MEETING
IS TAKING PLACE.
